Let’s dive into this tasty holiday tradition!
Preparation Time | 10-20 minutes |
Cooking Time | 8-10 minutes |
Total Time | 18-30 minutes |
Level of Difficulty | Easy |
Ingredients
- 2 cups plain flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup softened butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons almond essence
- 1 1/2 cups icing sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoons almond essence
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees F.
This ensures that your oven reaches the right temperature by the time your dough is ready to be baked.
Step 2: Cream Butter and Sugar
In a mixing bowl, combine the butter and sugar.
Beat the mixture until it becomes light and fluffy.
This step is crucial for incorporating air into the batter, which helps the cookies rise and become tender.
Step 3: Add Wet Ingredients
Next, add the egg and your chosen extract (vanilla, almond, etc.) to the butter and sugar mixture.
Mix until everything is well combined, ensuring an even distribution of flavors.
Step 4: Combine Dry Ingredients
Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the wet mixture.
Mix until all the ingredients are fully combined, forming a smooth and cohesive dough.
Step 5: Shape the Dough
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet.
Use the bottom of a glass to press down on each dough ball, gently flattening them into a disc shape.
This helps the cookies bake evenly.
Step 6: Bake and Cool
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8 minutes.
Be careful not to overbake them, as this can lead to dry cookies.
Once done, remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on a cooling rack.
Enjoy your freshly baked cookies!
