Preparation Time | 15-20 minutes |
Cooking Time | 9-10 minutes |
Total Time | 54-60 minutes |
Level of Difficulty | Medium |
Ingredients
- 2 cups plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon corn starch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
- 2 ripe bananas, peeled
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
- 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Step 1: Prepare Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, corn starch, and salt.
Once well combined, set the bowl aside for later use.
Step 2: Cream Wet Ingredients
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, mashed bananas, and sugars until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Beat in the vanilla extract until fully combined.
This step ensures a smooth and well-incorporated dough base.
Step 3: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Slowly add the prepared flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined.
Be careful not to overmix.
Once combined, fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
Step 4: Chill the Dough
Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.
This helps prevent the cookies from spreading too much while baking, ensuring a more desirable texture.
Step 5: Preheat Oven and Prepare Cookie Sheets
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper or lightly spray them with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
This allows for easy removal and cleanup.
Step 6: Scoop and Bake Cookies
Using a cookie scoop, portion out the cookie dough onto the prepared cookie sheets.
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 9-10 minutes, or just until they start to turn light, golden brown on top.
Step 7: Cool and Enjoy
Allow the cookies to cool completely on the cookie sheets.
After they have cooled, they are ready to be enjoyed.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
