Ready to grow some good luck?
Let’s get started!
Pick the Right Spot
Lucky bamboo loves bright but indirect sunlight. Find a spot in your home where the light is gentle, like near a window with sheer curtains.
Avoid placing it in direct sunlight as it can scorch those lovely leaves. If you notice the leaves turning yellow, it might be getting too much sun.
Water It Right
Lucky bamboo can grow in both water and soil, but the way you water it matters. If it’s in water, change the water every couple of weeks and keep the roots submerged.
If it’s in soil, keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Distilled or filtered water is best to avoid chemicals from tap water.
Feed It Properly
Feeding your lucky bamboo isn’t complicated. Use a tiny amount of water-soluble fertilizer every two to three months.
Just a drop or two will do! Over-fertilizing can turn the leaves yellow, so keep it light.
Cut and Trim
Trimming your lucky bamboo helps it stay in shape. Use clean, sharp scissors to cut off any overgrown or unhealthy stalks.
You can even dip the cut ends in paraffin or candle wax to prevent rot. Remember, a little trim goes a long way!
Watch for Pests
Keep an eye out for tiny invaders like spider mites and aphids. If you spot any, wipe the leaves with a damp cloth or use a mild soapy water solution.
Keeping the leaves dust-free can also help prevent pests from settling in.
Keep It Warm
Lucky bamboo prefers warmer temperatures. Anything between 65°F and 90°F (18°C to 32°C) is perfect.
Keep it away from drafts, air conditioning vents, or cold windows. Your plant will thank you for the cozy spot!
