Cooking Time22-25 minutes
Total Time42-55 minutes
Level of DifficultyMedium

Ingredients

  • 350 grams of flour
  • 1 packet of dry yeast (7 g)
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 150 grams of butter
  • 300 g of sheep cottage cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • Mixture of sunflower seeds and flaxseeds

Step 1: Preheat Oven and Prepare Dry Ingredients

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to ensure it’s ready for baking.

In a large bowl, combine 350 grams of flour, 1 packet of dry yeast (7 g), and 1 teaspoon of sugar.

Mix these dry ingredients together thoroughly.

Step 2: Incorporate Butter and Cheese

Add 150 grams of butter to the flour mixture.

Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, crumble the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Incorporate 300 grams of sheep cottage cheese into the mixture.

Add 1 teaspoon of salt (or 2 teaspoons if using traditional cottage cheese) and continue mixing until well combined.

Step 3: Knead and Roll Out the Dough

Knead the dough until it reaches a smooth consistency.

This may take a few minutes, so be patient.

Once the dough is smooth, roll it out on a floured surface to a thickness of about 2-3 cm.

Step 4: Cut and Prepare Scones

Using a small biscuit cutter, cut the rolled dough into scone shapes.

In a separate small bowl, beat one whole egg and use a pastry brush to apply a thin layer of the egg wash to the tops of each scone.

Optionally, sprinkle a mixture of sunflower seeds and flaxseeds on top of the scones.

You can also add grated cheese, cumin seeds, or other seeds for extra flavor.

Step 5: Bake the Scones

Place the scones on a baking tray, ensuring they have enough space to expand slightly during cooking.

Bake them in the preheated oven for 22-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.

Step 6: Cool and Serve

Once the scones are baked to a golden brown, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Enjoy your freshly baked scones!
