Preparation Time | 15-20 minutes |
Cooking Time | 25-30 minutes |
Total Time | 40-50 minutes |
Level of Difficulty | Easy |
Ingredients
- 2 to 4 boiled potatoes
- 5 roasted cloves of garlic
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 tablespoon of salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- French fried onions (for topping)
Step 1: Prepare the Potatoes and Garlic
Begin by boiling 2 to 4 potatoes until they are tender.
Simultaneously, roast 5 cloves of garlic until they become soft and fragrant.
These two steps can be done ahead of time to streamline the process.
Step 2: Combine and Mash Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the boiled potatoes and the roasted garlic.
Add 2 tablespoons of butter and about 1 tablespoon of salt, starting with less and adjusting to taste.
Next, add approximately ½ cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese to the mixture.
Incorporate ½ cup of breadcrumbs and ¼ cup of milk into the bowl.
Optionally, add a little pepper to taste.
Mash all the ingredients together until you achieve a thick and creamy consistency.
Step 3: Prepare the Baking Pan
Grease a baking pan with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Transfer the mashed potato mixture into the greased baking pan, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
This will serve as the base layer for your dish.
Step 4: Add Toppings
Generously sprinkle French fried onions on top of the mashed potato mixture.
These will add a crispy and flavorful topping to your dish.
Step 5: Bake the Dish
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Once preheated, place the baking pan in the oven and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes.
The dish is ready when the top is golden and toasted.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
Remove the baked mashed potatoes from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
Enjoy your delicious baked mashed potatoes with roasted garlic, Parmesan, and French fried onions as a comforting side dish or main course.
