Ingredients
- 1 cup oat flour (gluten-free if preferred)
- 1 large egg
- 1 heaping tbsp dried catnip (finely crushed for better dispersion)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (I recommend California Olive Ranch Extra Virgin)
- 1 can pink salmon (or tuna in water, no salt added, well drained)
Step 1: Preheat the Oven and Prepare Baking Sheets
Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line your baking sheets with either a Silpat mat or parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
Step 2: Make Oat Flour
To create oat flour, grind old-fashioned oats in a spice grinder or a clean coffee grinder until they form a light powder.
This will be used to add some structure to the treats.
Step 3: Combine Ingredients
In the bowl of a food processor fitted with a blade attachment, combine the drained salmon or tuna, freshly made oat flour, an egg, olive oil, and dried catnip.
Pulse the mixture until it comes together.
The dough should be thick but pliable, with visible bits of fish and dry food.
Step 4: Shape and Arrange the Dough
Roll the dough into small balls, about 1/2 teaspoon each, and place them evenly spaced on the prepared cookie sheet.
Once all the dough is formed into balls, use a fork to press marks into each one.
Step 5: Bake and Cool the Treats
Transfer the cookie sheet to the preheated oven and bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes, or until they are dried on top and slightly browned.
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely before handling.
Step 6: Store the Treats
Once the treats are fully cooled, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
