Ingredients
For the spiced apples:
- 1 sweet apple (such as Fuji or Honeycrisp, cored and diced)
- 1 tbsp golden raisins
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon (I use McCormick Ground Cinnamon)
- 1 pinch nutmeg (freshly grated for best flavor)
- 1 1/2 tbsp raw sugar
For assembly:
- 2 cups plain yogurt (plain Greek yogurt for a thicker consistency)
- 4 tbsp chopped walnuts (or pecans)
Step 1: Cook the Apples with Spices
Place diced apple, sugar, and raisins into a small pot.
Add 1/4 cup of water.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg.
Cover the pot and cook over low heat until the apples are soft, which will take around 16 to 18 minutes.
Stir occasionally to ensure the apples are evenly cooked.
Step 2: Cool the Cooked Apples
Once the apples are soft and cooked, set the pot aside to cool.
Allow the mixture to reach room temperature before using it as a topping for the yogurt.
Step 3: Assemble the Yogurt Bowls
Divide the yogurt into two medium bowls.
Top each bowl with the cooled apple mixture.
Finally, sprinkle chopped nuts over the apples.
Serve immediately while the yogurt is fresh and the apples are flavorful.
