Hey, friends!
Looking for a quick and healthy dinner idea? I’ve got you covered!
Today, I’m excited to share my delicious ground turkey and green beans recipe.
It’s packed with flavor, super easy to make, and perfect for busy weeknights.
Plus, it’s a great way to sneak in some veggies!
Let’s dive in!
Ingredient Substitutions
Ground turkey can be replaced with ground chicken, lean ground beef, or crumbled firm tofu for vegetarian diets. These alternatives offer similar protein content and texture. Adjust cooking times slightly for beef or tofu.
Green beans can be substituted with snap peas, broccoli florets, or asparagus spears. These vegetables provide similar nutrients and maintain the dish’s crisp texture. Cut them into bite-sized pieces for even cooking.
Soy sauce can be swapped with coconut aminos or tamari for gluten-free options. Coconut aminos are slightly sweeter, so reduce the honey if using this alternative. Tamari provides a similar flavor profile to soy sauce and can be used in equal amounts. Both options maintain the umami flavor essential to the dish’s Asian-inspired taste.

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, separated
- 1 pound chopped green beans
- Salt and pepper to your preference
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium)
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 teaspoons chili garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Step 1: Sauté the Green Beans
In a large skillet, heat one tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.
Once the pan is hot, add the green beans and season with a little salt and pepper.
Sauté the green beans for about 6 minutes until they start to get a little char and are tender, yet still crisp.
They should not be floppy.
Transfer the green beans to a bowl and set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Onions and Garlic
Drizzle the remaining tablespoon of olive oil into the hot skillet.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes fragrant and translucent, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Then, add the garlic and sauté for an additional 30 seconds, being careful not to let it burn.
Step 3: Brown the Ground Turkey
Add the ground turkey to the skillet with the onions and garlic.
Cook, stirring constantly, until the turkey is crumbled and fully cooked through.
Ensure that there are no pink bits remaining for food safety reasons.
Step 4: Prepare and Add the Sauce
While the ground turkey is cooking, whisk together soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, honey, sesame oil, ginger, and any preferred seasonings in a small bowl.
Once the turkey is cooked, add the cooked green beans back into the pan.
Pour the sauce over the turkey and green beans, mixing well to ensure everything is completely coated.
Step 5: Simmer and Serve
Let the mixture simmer for 2 to 3 more minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly and clings to the green beans and turkey.
Serve the savory mix over hot rice and enjoy a delicious, fulfilling meal!
