Ingredients
- 12 tree-shaped cookies
- 1 bottle edible pearls (for a festive touch)
- 1 bottle white shimmer sugar (I use Wilton brand for a good sparkle)
- 1 pouch white cookie icing
Step 1: Bake and Cool the Sugar Cookies
Start by baking 12 of your favorite rolled sugar cookies, shaped as trees.
Follow your preferred sugar cookie recipe and cut the dough into tree shapes.
Once baked, let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack before proceeding to decorate them.
Step 2: Apply the Base Layer of Icing
Carefully decorate the cooled sugar cookies with Cake Mate® white cookie icing.
Optionally, before the icing dries, you can sprinkle white shimmer sugar or pearls on top to add extra sparkle and texture.
Allow the icing to set completely before moving on to the next layer of decoration.
Step 3: Add Decorative Details with Icing
Using Cake Mate® cookie icing, pipe thin lines and dots over the dried base layer of icing.
This could include outlining the shape of the tree, adding garlands, or creating ornaments.
Before the icing dries, coat these lines and dots with sugar or decorate with pearls to add more detail and texture.
Step 4: Set the Decorations
If you are adding sugar to your piped lines and dots, it’s best to do one color at a time and allow the icing to set between applications to prevent the colors from mixing.
This ensures a clean and vibrant finish to your decorations.
Step 5: Final Setting and Serving
Allow the decorated cookies to set for at least 1 hour before serving.
This ensures that all the icing and decorations are securely set and won’t smudge or move when served.
Enjoy your beautifully decorated sugar cookies!
