Ingredient Substitutions
Ground beef and pork can be replaced with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option. This substitution reduces fat content while maintaining a similar texture. Adjust cooking time slightly, as poultry may cook faster than red meat. For a vegetarian alternative, use a mixture of mashed beans and cooked quinoa, adding extra seasonings to enhance flavor.
Dry bread crumbs can be substituted with crushed pork rinds for a low-carb option or almond flour for a gluten-free version. Both alternatives will help bind the meatballs while accommodating different dietary needs. Adjust quantities as needed to achieve the right consistency.
Cream of chicken condensed soup can be replaced with a homemade version using Greek yogurt, chicken broth, and corn starch for a healthier, less processed option. This substitution allows for better control of sodium and additives. Alternatively, use cream of mushroom soup for a different flavor profile while maintaining the creamy texture of the dish.

Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 lb. ground pork
- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1/4 cup onions, chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp parsley
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 can cream of chicken condensed soup
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
Step 1: Preheat Oven and Prepare Meat Mixture
Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, combine 1 lb.
of ground beef with 1 lb.
of ground pork.
Add 1/2 cup of dry bread crumbs, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, 1/4 cup of chopped onions, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon of parsley, 1/4 teaspoon of allspice, and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg to the meat mixture.
Gently mix all the ingredients by hand, being careful not to over mix as this could make the meatballs tough.
Step 2: Form and Bake the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, making between 15 to 24 balls depending on your desired size—1 inch for appetizers or 1 1/2 inches for a main course.
Place the formed meatballs on a rimmed baking sheet or glass pan.
Bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until they are fully cooked.
Step 3: Prepare the Cream Sauce
While the meatballs are baking, prepare the cream sauce.
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1/2 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of sour cream, 1 can of cream of chicken condensed soup, and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg.
Stir the mixture until all the ingredients are melted together and well combined into a smooth sauce.
Step 4: Combine and Bake with Cream Sauce
Once the meatballs are cooked, carefully transfer them to a cooling rack or a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess grease.
Pour the prepared cream sauce over the baked meatballs.
Return the meatballs to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cream sauce is bubbly and has slightly thickened.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
Remove the meatballs from the oven and let them sit for a moment before serving.
Serve the meatballs with your choice of sides, such as a fresh lettuce salad or roasted sweet potatoes, for a delightful and satisfying meal.
