Preparation Time 10-15 minutes
Cooking Time 15-20 minutes
Total Time 25-35 minutes
Level of Difficulty Easy

Ingredients

  • Two 5-ounce cans of tuna in water (drained and flaked)
  • 1/3 cup mayo
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup shredded gruyere cheese (split in half)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley (for garnish)

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).

This will ensure that your oven is at the right temperature when you’re ready to bake the casserole.

Step 2: Prepare the Tuna Mixture

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the tuna, mayonnaise, mustard, 1/4 cup of shredded cheese, finely chopped onion, salt, pepper, and a pinch of cayenne pepper.

Mix everything together well until the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 3: Transfer and Top with Cheese

Transfer the tuna mixture into a small, 1-quart casserole dish.

Spread it out evenly using a spatula.

Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of shredded cheese over the top of the mixture to create a delicious, cheesy topping.

Step 4: Bake the Casserole

Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake until the casserole is hot and the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 15 minutes.

Be sure to check the casserole occasionally to prevent the cheese from burning.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

Carefully remove the casserole dish from the oven and sprinkle it with freshly chopped parsley for a touch of color and added flavor.

Serve the cheesy tuna casserole immediately, accompanied by cut-up veggies and/or pork rinds for scooping out the mixture.

Enjoy your meal!
