Hey there, friends!
Looking for a cozy dish that’s a bit different? I’ve got something special for you!
Today, I’m sharing my delicious casserole without pasta.
It’s hearty, filling, and packed with flavor—plus, it’s a great way to lighten things up.
Trust me, you won’t miss the pasta at all!
Let’s dive into this tasty recipe!

| Preparation Time | 10-15 minutes |
| Cooking Time | 15-20 minutes |
| Total Time | 25-35 minutes |
| Level of Difficulty | Easy |
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise (I like Hellmann’s for this recipe)
- 1/2 cup shredded gruyere cheese (use aged gruyere for richer flavor)
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley (for garnish, fresh preferred)
- 2 5-oz cans tuna in water (drained and flaked)
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard
- 1/4 tsp black pepper (freshly ground for best aroma)
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).
This will ensure that your oven is at the right temperature when you’re ready to bake the casserole.
Step 2: Prepare the Tuna Mixture
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the tuna, mayonnaise, mustard, 1/4 cup of shredded cheese, finely chopped onion, salt, pepper, and a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Mix everything together well until the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Step 3: Transfer and Top with Cheese
Transfer the tuna mixture into a small, 1-quart casserole dish.
Spread it out evenly using a spatula.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of shredded cheese over the top of the mixture to create a delicious, cheesy topping.
Step 4: Bake the Casserole
Place the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake until the casserole is hot and the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 15 minutes.
Be sure to check the casserole occasionally to prevent the cheese from burning.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
Carefully remove the casserole dish from the oven and sprinkle it with freshly chopped parsley for a touch of color and added flavor.
Serve the cheesy tuna casserole immediately, accompanied by cut-up veggies and/or pork rinds for scooping out the mixture.
Enjoy your meal!
