Preparation Time | 15-20 minutes |
Cooking Time | 9-10 minutes |
Total Time | 24-30 minutes |
Level of Difficulty | Easy |
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup margarine (1 1/2 sticks)
- 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla essence
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups chocolate chips or other candy pieces
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking once your cookie dough is prepared.
Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients
In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together margarine, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
Add in the vanilla extract, egg, and baking soda, then continue to beat until well combined.
Step 3: Incorporate Dry Ingredients
Gradually stir in the flour by hand to the wet mixture until fully blended.
This step may require a bit of arm strength, as the dough will be quite thick.
Once the flour is fully incorporated, stir in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Step 4: Prepare and Bake Cookies
Drop heaping tablespoonfuls of the cookie dough onto an ungreased baking sheet, keeping each drop about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 9-10 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.
Step 5: Cool Cookies
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheet for 2 minutes to firm up.
Then, transfer the cookies to wire racks to cool completely before serving.
