Cooking Time | 10-15 minutes |
Total Time | 130-150 minutes |
Level of Difficulty | Easy |
Ingredients
- Nonstick spray
- 2 (10 oz) bags vanilla baking chips
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 1/2 cups crushed peppermint candy
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint flavoring
- 1 drop red or green food coloring
Step 1: Prepare the Baking Pan
Line an 8-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil, making sure the foil extends beyond the edges of the pan for easy removal.
Spray the foil with nonstick cooking spray.
Set the prepared pan aside for later use.
Step 2: Melt the Vanilla Baking Chips
In a medium saucepan, combine the vanilla baking chips and sweetened condensed milk over medium heat.
Stir frequently to prevent the mixture from burning.
Continue to heat until the chips are almost melted, then remove the saucepan from the heat and stir until the mixture becomes smooth and fully combined.
Step 3: Add Flavorings and Color
Stir in the crushed candy canes, peppermint extract, and a dash of food coloring into the melted mixture.
Mix well to ensure that all ingredients are thoroughly combined and evenly distributed.
Step 4: Spread and Set the Fudge
Pour and spread the fudge mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
Use a spatula to smooth out the top, ensuring an even layer.
Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill for 2 hours or until the fudge is firm and set.
Step 5: Cut and Serve
Once the fudge has chilled and set, remove it from the refrigerator.
Lift the fudge out of the pan using the extended aluminum foil edges and place it on a cutting board.
Cut the fudge into squares and serve immediately, or store in an airtight container.
