Ingredients
For the cream cheese filling:
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
 - 1 tbsp vanilla extract (I use Madagascar vanilla for best flavor)
 - 1/3 cup powdered sugar

For the french toast:
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
 - 1 tsp ground cinnamon
 - 3/4 cup milk
 - 2 large eggs
 - 12 slices Texas toast (thick-cut bread is essential here)

For optional toppings:
- strawberries (freshly sliced for garnish)
 - whipped cream (homemade is always best)
 - maple syrup (pure maple syrup recommended for flavor)

Step 1: Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling
In a mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until you have a smooth, spreadable consistency.
This will be the delicious filling for your French toast sandwiches.
Step 2: Assemble the Sandwiches
Spread a thick layer of the cream cheese filling on one side of half of the Texas Toast slices.
Top each filled slice with a second piece of Texas Toast to form sandwiches with the cream cheese filling in the middle.
Press gently to ensure they stick together.
Step 3: Prepare the Egg Mixture
In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, granulated sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
This mixture will coat the sandwiches and add flavor to the bread.
Step 4: Dip the Sandwiches
Dip each assembled sandwich into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides thoroughly.
Allow any excess to drip off before transferring to the skillet or griddle.
Step 5: Cook the Sandwiches
Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat and melt a generous amount of butter on it.
Once the butter is melted and begins to sizzle, place the dipped sandwiches onto the griddle/skillet.
Cook them until they are golden brown on both sides, flipping carefully as needed.
Step 6: Add Toppings and Serve
Remove the sandwiches from the griddle/skillet and place them on serving plates.
Top with fresh strawberries, syrup, and a dollop of whipped cream.
Serve immediately and enjoy your sweet and creamy French toast sandwiches!
