Preparation Time | 15-20 minutes |
Cooking Time | 8-10 minutes |
Total Time | 23-30 minutes |
Level of Difficulty | Easy |
Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- Sprinkles
Step 1: Preheat the Oven and Prepare Dry Ingredients
Preheat your oven to 375ºF (190ºC).
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the necessary amounts of flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
Stir well and set this dry mixture aside for later use.
Step 2: Cream Butter and Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
This step can be done using a hand mixer or a stand mixer.
Once smooth, add in the egg and vanilla extract, then beat again until fully incorporated.
Step 3: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the flour mixture from Step 1 into the butter-sugar mixture.
Beat the combined ingredients until a dough forms.
It may appear crumbly at first, but continue mixing until the dough comes together into a cohesive ball.
Step 4: Form and Flatten Cookie Dough
Using a 1-inch cookie dough scoop, scoop the dough and roll it into round balls with your hands.
Place these dough balls onto a greased baking sheet.
Using the smooth bottom of a glass, press each ball of dough down until they are about 1/2 inch thick.
Step 5: Add Sprinkles and Bake
Place some sprinkles in a small bowl.
Take each flattened piece of cookie dough and gently press it into the sprinkles, ensuring the top is well coated.
Return each piece of dough, sprinkle side up, to the baking sheet.
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.
Step 6: Cool and Serve
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 3 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Once cool, enjoy your delicious, homemade sprinkle-topped cookies!
Butter is not dairy free ergo these cookies are not dairy free
You need to change the name. Some people have life threatening dairy allergies and if someone made these for a person like that and didn’t realize butter is actually dairy, it could be fatal. Glad I checked the ingredients because these are NOT dairy free.
