Hey friends!
Craving something comforting and delicious? You’re in for a treat!
Today, I’m sharing my go-to recipe for tomato soup hamburger casserole.
It’s the ultimate dish that combines cozy flavors and hearty ingredients.
Perfect for a chilly night or when you need a quick dinner idea.
Trust me, once you try it, you’ll want to make it again and again! Let’s dig in!

| Preparation Time | 10-15 minutes |
| Cooking Time | 30-35 minutes |
| Total Time | 40-50 minutes |
| Level of Difficulty | Easy |
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- kosher salt, to taste
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 lb medium shell pasta
- freshly ground black pepper, to taste (freshly ground preferred for more flavor)
- 2 cans tomato soup (I prefer Campbell’s condensed tomato soup)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (for best melt, use low-moisture part-skim)
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F.
While the oven is heating, grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
This will prevent sticking and make for easier cleanup later.
Step 2: Cook the Pasta
In a large pot of salted water, cook the pasta according to the package directions.
Once the pasta is cooked to an al dente texture, drain it well and set it aside.
This allows you to focus on other components without the pasta overcooking.
Step 3: Brown the Hamburger
As the pasta is cooking, heat a skillet over medium heat.
Brown and break up the hamburger until it is no longer pink, seasoning it to your preference.
You can use just salt and pepper, or seasonings like seasoned salt and garlic powder for added flavor.
Step 4: Combine Ingredients
Once the hamburger is browned and the pasta is cooked, add both to the prepared baking dish.
Pour in the tomato soup, 1/2 cup water, and half of the cheeses.
Stir everything until well combined, ensuring the pasta and beef are evenly coated with the soup and cheese.
Step 5: Bake the Dish
Top the combined mixture with the remaining cheese.
Cover the baking dish with foil and place it in the oven.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Step 6: Final Bake and Broil
Remove the foil after 20 minutes and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes.
If you prefer a slightly browned and crispy cheese top, broil the dish for an additional 2-3 minutes, keeping a close eye to avoid burning.
Enjoy your delicious meal hot from the oven!
