Ingredients
For the marinade:
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 4 tbsp soy sauce (I prefer Kikkoman for this recipe)
For the nuggets:
- 14 oz paneer (cut into 1-inch cubes)
For the coating:
- 4 tbsp sesame seeds (toasted, if possible, for more flavor)
- 2 tsp dried herbs (Italian seasoning works well)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tsp red chili flakes
For frying:
- oil for shallow frying (like vegetable or canola oil)
Step 1: Marinate the Paneer
In a bowl, combine lime juice and soy sauce, then whisk them together to create a marinade.
Cut the paneer into cubes and add them to the marinade.
Allow the paneer to marinate for 20-30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Step 2: Prepare the Coating Ingredients
In a separate bowl, mix together panko bread crumbs, salt, red chili flakes, and sesame seeds.
Set this mixture aside for later use.
In another bowl, mix gram flour (or regular flour) with water and salt to create a thin paste.
This paste will be used to coat the paneer cubes.
Step 3: Coat the Paneer
After the paneer has marinated, dip each cube into the gram flour batter, ensuring it is well coated.
Then, roll the coated paneer cubes in the panko mixture until they are fully covered with the breadcrumb mixture.
Step 4: Fry the Paneer Nuggets
Heat oil in a pan for shallow frying.
Once the oil is hot, carefully add the paneer nuggets to the oil.
Fry them, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown on all sides.
Be sure to monitor the heat to avoid burning the nuggets.
Step 5: Drain and Serve
Remove the paneer nuggets from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serve the paneer nuggets hot with Sriracha sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
Enjoy your crispy and flavorful paneer nuggets!
