Total Time 140-150 minutes
Level of Difficulty Medium

Ingredients

  • 2 hardwood smoked hams
  • 3 to 4 apples
  • 2 20 oz cans of chunked pineapple
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups of applesauce
  • 2 18 oz bottles of bbq sauce

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

Start by gathering all the ingredients you’ll need: 2 hardwood smoked hams, 3 to 4 apples, 2 (20 oz) cans of chunked pineapple, 1 to 1.5 cups of applesauce, and 2 (18 oz) bottles of BBQ sauce.

Remove any skin and fat from the hams, discarding the unwanted parts.

Cut the hams into bite-sized pieces and place them in a pan.

Step 2: Add the Apples and Applesauce

Core and peel the apples, then cut them into bite-sized pieces.

Add the apple pieces to the pan with the ham.

Pour 1 to 1.5 cups of applesauce over the ham and apples in the pan.

Step 3: Incorporate the BBQ Sauce and Pineapple

Add both bottles of BBQ sauce to the mixture in the pan.

Mix all the ingredients well, ensuring everything is evenly combined.

Open the cans of chunked pineapple and pour them over the top of the mixture in the pan.

Step 4: Preheat and Arrange the Grill

Preheat your grill to 300°F (150°C).

Once the grill is heated, place the pan on the grill away from direct heat to allow for indirect cooking.

Close the lid to trap the heat and begin cooking.

Step 5: Grill the Casserole

Cook the casserole on the grill for about 2 hours.

After the first hour, check the mixture and spread the juices around to ensure even cooking.

Continue to cook for the remainder of the time until everything is fully heated through and the flavors are well blended.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

After cooking for 2 hours, remove the pan from the grill.

Serve the casserole in bowls and enjoy this flavorful and hearty dish.

Bon appétit!
