Preparation Time 20-30 minutes
Cooking Time 10-15 minutes
Total Time 30-45 minutes
Level of Difficulty Easy

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (very soft, room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons powdered / icing sugar
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2¼-2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Sprinkles (optional)
  • Cherries (optional)
  • Chocolate (optional)

Step 1: Mix the Dough

In a large bowl, beat 1 cup of very soft butter until creamy.

Add 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar to the bowl and beat for about 2 minutes until well combined.

Add 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixture, and beat again on medium speed until combined.

Add a pinch of salt and gradually mix in 2¼ to 2½ cups of all-purpose flour, beating until just combined.

Step 2: Prepare the Cookie Press

Fill a cookie press with the dough.

Make sure it is packed in tightly to ensure even pressing and shaped cookies.

Press the cookie dough onto a baking sheet directly, without using parchment paper.

Optionally, decorate with sprinkles or a cherry on top of the cookies.

Step 3: Preheat the Oven and Chill the Cookies

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

While the oven is preheating, chill the pressed cookies in the fridge.

This helps the cookies maintain their shape during baking.

Step 4: Bake the Cookies

Bake the cookies for about 10 minutes or until golden.

Keep a close eye on them, as baking times can vary slightly depending on your oven and the size of the cookies.

Step 5: Cool and Finish

Once baked, allow the cookies to cool slightly on the baking sheet before detaching them.

Optionally, add a little chocolate or half a cherry on top of the cookies as they cool.

This is an excellent time to get creative with additional decorations while the cookies are still slightly warm.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

Enjoy your freshly baked cookies with family and friends.

They make a delightful treat for any occasion!
