Let’s dive into the holiday spirit and get baking!
Preparation Time | 15-20 minutes |
Cooking Time | 8-9 minutes |
Total Time | 23-29 minutes |
Level of Difficulty | Easy |
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Step 1: Preheat the Oven and Prepare Dry Ingredients
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Mix well and set aside.
This step ensures that your dry ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Step 2: Cream Together Wet Ingredients
In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the oil, brown sugar, and white sugar.
Using the paddle attachment, cream these ingredients together until they are well combined and fluffy.
This step helps to incorporate air into the dough, which will make your cookies light and chewy.
Step 3: Add Eggs and Extracts
Beat the eggs into the creamed mixture one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
Then, add the vanilla and almond extract, and mix until blended.
This step adds moisture and flavor to your dough.
Step 4: Incorporate Dry Ingredients and Chocolate Chips
Gradually blend in the dry ingredient mixture you set aside in Step 1 into the wet mixture.
Mix until just combined to avoid overworking the dough.
Finally, fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula or the paddle attachment on low speed.
Step 5: Scoop and Shape the Cookie Dough
Using a cookie dough scoop, scoop balls of dough onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Place the dough balls approximately 2 inches apart to allow for spreading during baking.
This ensures that your cookies bake evenly and don’t merge into each other.
Step 6: Bake and Cool the Cookies
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 8 to 9 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
This cooling time helps to firm up the cookies.
