Ingredients

  • 500 grams cottage cheese
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 100 grams semolina
  • A pinch of salt
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Oil
  • Powdered sugar
  • Sour cream

Step 1: Prepare the Mixture

Gather all your ingredients: 500g cottage cheese, 3 egg yolks, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 100g semolina, a pinch of salt, breadcrumbs, oil, icing sugar, and sour cream for serving.

In a bowl, beat the 3 egg whites until they are foamy.

In a separate bowl, mix the cottage cheese, egg yolks, granulated sugar, semolina, salt, and baking powder until the mixture is creamy and smooth.

Step 2: Combine Ingredients and Chill

Carefully combine the beaten egg whites with the cottage cheese mixture.

Mix well until everything is evenly incorporated.

Once combined, place the mixture in the refrigerator and let it cool for at least 1-2 hours.

This chilling step helps the mixture firm up, making it easier to handle.

Step 3: Form Dumpling Balls

After chilling, wet your hands to prevent sticking and form the mixture into small balls.

Aim for uniform sizes for even cooking.

Set the formed balls aside while you prepare to cook.

Step 4: Cook the Dumplings

Bring a pot of water to a hot (but not boiling) temperature over medium heat.

Once the water is hot, gently place the dumpling balls into the pot.

Cook them until they rise to the surface, which indicates they are done.

This usually takes about 3-5 minutes.

Step 5: Fry the Breadcrumbs

While the dumplings are cooking, heat some oil in a frying pan over medium heat.

Add the breadcrumbs to the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown, stirring frequently to ensure even browning.

Once done, remove them from heat.

Step 6: Finish and Serve

Once the dumplings are cooked, carefully remove them from the pot and roll them in the fried breadcrumbs until they are coated evenly.

Serve the dumplings warm, topped with a dusting of powdered sugar and accompanied by a side of sour cream for dipping.

Enjoy your delicious homemade dumplings!
