Preparation Time 10-15 minutes
Cooking Time 30-40 minutes
Total Time 40-55 minutes
Level of Difficulty Easy

Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2/3 cup 2% low-fat cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup part-skim mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup grated pecorino romano
  • 8 oz feta cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Step 1: Preheat and Cook the Pasta

Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the pasta for 5 minutes.

It will continue cooking as it bakes in the oven, so you don’t need to cook it all the way through.

Step 2: Prepare the Pasta with Sauce

Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and then toss it in about 1 cup of marinara sauce until well coated.

This will add flavor and moisture to the pasta as it bakes.

Step 3: Layer the Ingredients in the Baking Dish

In a baking dish, start by placing a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom.

Then, pour the coated pasta on top in an even layer.

Next, in a small bowl, combine the cottage cheese, 1/4 cup of mozzarella, pecorino romano, and your favorite herbs.

Dollop this mixture over the pasta layer and spread it out evenly.

Step 4: Finish Layering and Bake

Top the pasta and cottage cheese mixture with the remaining marinara sauce, followed by the rest of the mozzarella and crumbled feta cheese.

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Step 5: Add the Final Touches

After 25 minutes, carefully remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Once it’s out of the oven, stir in the minced garlic and season with salt and pepper to taste for a burst of flavor.

Step 6: Serve and Garnish

Serve the baked pasta hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves for a delightful presentation.

Enjoy your delicious dish!
