Preparation Time | 30-60 minutes |
Cooking Time | 10-15 minutes |
Total Time | 40-75 minutes |
Level of Difficulty | Medium |
Ingredients
DOUGH
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup lukewarm milk
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- butter
- salt, to taste
FILLING
- 2 cups grated paneer (cottage cheese)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- coriander leaves, finely chopped
- pepper, to taste
- salt, to taste
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
Gather all the main ingredients: all-purpose flour, paneer, onion, coriander, butter, baking soda, baking powder, milk, yogurt, sugar, black pepper, and salt.
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Add yogurt and milk to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 1 hour.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
While the dough is resting, prepare the filling by crumbling the paneer.
Mix the crumbled paneer with finely chopped onion, chopped coriander, black pepper, and salt to taste.
Set the filling aside until the dough is ready.
Step 3: Divide and Fill the Dough
After the dough has rested, divide it into equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.
Take one ball of dough and flatten it slightly.
Place a spoonful of the paneer filling in the center.
Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to seal it and then gently flatten it again.
Be sure the filling is well sealed so it doesn’t spill out.
Step 4: Roll Out the Dough
Roll out the stuffed dough ball into a flat naan shape.
Be careful not to roll too thin, as this could cause the filling to spill out.
Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls and filling.
Step 5: Cook the Naan
Heat a skillet or tandoor over medium heat.
Once hot, place the rolled out dough onto the skillet or tandoor.
Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown spots appear and the naan is cooked through.
Brush the cooked naan with melted butter for added flavor.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
Once all the naan is cooked, serve hot.
Enjoy your homemade, stuffed paneer naan as a delicious meal or side dish!
They pair wonderfully with a variety of Indian dishes or can be savored on their own.
