Preparation Time 15-20 minutes
Cooking Time 45-55 minutes
Total Time 60-75 minutes
Level of Difficulty Medium

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of french bread, around 16 ounces (brioche is also fine)
  • 10 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 3/4 cup nutella (extra for topping)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Raspberries (for garnish)

Step 1: Prepare the Baking Dish and Bread

Spray a 9×13″ baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Cut the loaf of bread into 1″ chunks and evenly spread them in the prepared baking dish.

Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

Make sure the mixture is well combined and smooth.

Step 3: Combine Bread and Egg Mixture

Pour the egg mixture over the bread chunks, ensuring it gets evenly distributed.

You may need to press some of the top pieces down into the liquid to help them soak up the mixture.

Step 4: Add Nutella Drizzle

Place Nutella in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 30-60 seconds, until it is drizzle-able.

Drizzle the warm Nutella over the entire casserole, making sure it spreads evenly and reaches all the nooks and crannies.

Step 5: Refrigerate Overnight

Cover the baking dish with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

This allows the bread to fully absorb the egg mixture for a richer texture.

Step 6: Bake the Casserole

When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Remove the cover from the baking dish and bake the casserole uncovered for 45-55 minutes, until it is golden brown and the egg mixture has set.

Step 7: Serve and Enjoy

Top the baked casserole with additional warm Nutella, powdered sugar, and fresh raspberries.

Serve warm and enjoy!
