Preparation Time 10-15 minutes
Cooking Time 60 minutes
Total Time 70-75 minutes
Level of Difficulty Easy

Ingredients

  • 30 ounces pumpkin puree
  • 12 ounces evaporated milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1½ cups white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup salted butter
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • Whipped cream, for serving
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Step 1: Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Set aside a 9×13-inch baking dish, ensuring it is clean and ready for use.

Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients and Pour

In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin, milk, eggs, sugar, and spices.

Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly blended.

Pour this mixture evenly into the prepared 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 3: Add Dry Cake Mix and Extra Spice

Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the top of the pumpkin puree mixture in the baking dish.

For extra flavor, sprinkle a little additional pumpkin pie spice over the top of the cake mix after it has been added.

Step 4: Add Butter

Melt the butter and pour it evenly over the cake mix.

Alternatively, you can cut the butter into thin slices and evenly distribute the slices to cover the top of the cake mix.

This will help create a buttery, crisp topping.

Step 5: Add Nuts and Bake

Spread the nuts evenly over the top of the cake.

Place the baking dish in your preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly.

Serve warm, topped with a scoop of ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream, and a dash of pumpkin spice for added flavor.

Enjoy your delicious treat!
