Ingredient Substitutions
Bacon can be replaced with tempeh or mushrooms for a vegetarian option. Thinly sliced and pan-fried tempeh or sautéed shiitake mushrooms provide a similar savory flavor and chewy texture. For a vegan alternative, use coconut bacon made from seasoned coconut flakes.
Tahini paste can be substituted with sunflower seed butter or cashew butter for those with sesame allergies. These alternatives offer a similar creamy texture and nutty flavor. Adjust the amount of lemon juice or water to achieve the desired consistency, as these substitutes may have different thicknesses than tahini.
Zucchini noodles (zoodles) can be swapped with spiralized carrots, sweet potatoes, or butternut squash for variety or to accommodate preferences. These vegetables provide different nutritional profiles and flavors while maintaining a similar noodle-like texture. Cooking times may need to be adjusted based on the chosen vegetable’s firmness.

Ingredients
- 4 strips of cooked bacon
- 5 tablespoons of tahini paste
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 3 teaspoons coconut aminos
- 1 garlic clove
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- Salt and pepper to your liking
- 1/4 cup water
- 4 medium-sized zucchinis
- Crushed red pepper flakes for garnish
- Fresh basil or marjoram for garnishing
Step 1: Prepare the Tahini Bacon Sauce
Add cooked bacon, tahini, extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, coconut aminos, garlic, dried turmeric, salt, and pepper to a blender or food processor.
Blend the ingredients together until you achieve a smooth and combined sauce.
If the sauce appears too thick, gradually incorporate up to ¼ cup of water to reach your desired consistency.
Step 2: Spiralize the Zucchini
Use a spiralizer with any blade size of your choice to create zucchini noodles.
This will form the base of your dish and allow the sauce to be thoroughly infused throughout the noodles.
Step 3: Heat Zucchini Noodles with Sauce
Place a skillet on medium-low heat and add the spiralized zucchini along with the prepared tahini bacon sauce.
Using tongs, toss the zucchini noodles in the skillet to ensure they are fully coated with the sauce.
Warm the mixture for several minutes until heated through, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
Step 4: Plate and Garnish
Transfer the saucy zucchini noodles to a serving bowl.
Top with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a bit of heat and add some fresh marjoram or basil for garnish, enhancing the flavors.
Serve immediately and enjoy your vibrant and tasty dish!
