Got ants taking over your space?
No need to stress!
You can kill ant colonies in just 3 minutes with zero effort. Sound too good to be true? It’s not!
Find out how and take back control. Ready? Let’s get started!
1. Use Boiling Water
This is probably one of the easiest methods on this list. Just boil a kettle of water, and carefully pour it over the ant hill.
The boiling water will instantly kill most of the ants. Repeat once or twice if you need to.
Bonus: the heat will sterilize the ground, making it harder for ants to come back. Be cautious, though – boiling water can damage plants near the ant nest.
2. Sprinkle Diatomaceous Earth
Diatomaceous earth is a natural, non-toxic powder that’s safe for pets and kids. Just sprinkle it around the ant mound and in areas where you see ants.
Diatomaceous earth works by dehydrating the ants, causing them to die off quickly. Make sure it stays dry; wet diatomaceous earth isn’t effective.
Repeat after a rainstorm if necessary.
3. Try a Vinegar Solution
Vinegar doesn’t just make a great cleaner; it’s also a powerful ant killer! Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle.
Spray the solution directly on the ants and around their nest. The acidity in the vinegar disrupts their scent trails and kills them.
Reapply as needed until the ants are gone. Plus, your yard will have that fresh, vinegar-cleaned smell!
4. Use a Borax and Sugar Mix
Borax is another natural solution that’s deadly to ants but safe for your home. Mix three parts sugar with one part Borax and add a bit of water to make a paste.
Place small dabs of the mixture near the ant hill and any ant trails. The sugar attracts the ants, and the Borax kills them when they take it back to the nest.
Be patient; this method takes a few days.
5. Employ Citrus Peels
Don’t toss those orange or lemon peels just yet! Ants hate citrus.
Take the peels and blend them with a bit of water to make a paste. Spread the paste around the ant mound and on any ant trails.
The strong citrus smell will deter the ants and make them move away. It’s an eco-friendly and super cheap solution!
6. Pour Liquid Dish Soap
Another quick and effective way to get rid of ants is with liquid dish soap. Mix a tablespoon of dish soap with a quart of water.
Pour the soapy water over the ant hill. The dish soap will breakdown the ants’ outer shells, causing them to die quickly.
You might need to repeat the process a couple of times, but it’s super easy and effective.
7. Spread Coffee Grounds
Don’t throw away your used coffee grounds. Ants hate the smell!
Spread the coffee grounds around the ant hill and along any trails you see. The ants will avoid the area, and eventually, they’ll move away.
It’s also a great way to recycle and add some nutrients to your soil. Plus, who doesn’t like the smell of coffee?
thanks you I greatly appreciate it.
