Preparation Time 15-25 minutes
Cooking Time 10-20 minutes
Total Time 25-45 minutes
Level of Difficulty Medium

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 1/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup crushed potato chips
  • 3/4 cup crushed pretzels
  • 1/2 cup red and green sprinkles
  • Flaky sea salt

Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Mix Butter and Sugars

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of softened butter, 1/2 cup of light brown sugar, and 1/2 cup of sugar.

Beat the mixture until it becomes light and fluffy, which should take about 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 2: Incorporate Wet and Dry Ingredients

Add 1 egg and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until they are well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 1/4 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.

Step 3: Add Mix-ins

Fold in 3/4 cup of crushed potato chips, 3/4 cup of crushed pretzels, 1 1/4 cups of semisweet chocolate chips, and 1/2 cup of holiday sprinkles, reserving some of each for topping.

Be careful not to overmix; just incorporate the extras evenly throughout the dough.

Step 4: Shape and Top the Cookies

Roll 2 tablespoons of cookie dough into a ball and place each ball onto a cookie sheet.

Slightly press down each ball to flatten it a bit.

Sprinkle the reserved toppings (potato chips, pretzels, chocolate chips, and sprinkles) on top of each cookie.

For an extra touch of flavor, lightly sprinkle some flaky sea salt on top of the cookies.

Step 5: Bake and Cool

Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 14 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy your delicious, sweet and salty holiday cookies!
